Medical marijuana has been changed from a schedule I drug (Something considered harmful, addictive, and not medically beneficial) to a Schedule II drug. This will help us to be able to get rid of the federal ban on medical marijuana! The admission to the use of cannabis being able to kill cancer from the government comes as a surprise because of the way they have been handling things thus far.
This admission has came several months after a study was done that demonstrated how effective cannbinoids were in shrinking aggressive brain tumors.
This study research was done by a group of scientists at St. George’s University of London they found the two most common cannabinoids in marijuana known as Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) an cannabidiol (CBD) weakened the cancer cells dramatically and made them more susceptible to radiation treatment. Huge reductions were noticed upon using these cannabinoids and radiation therapy together.
While we have known about the medical benefits of cannabis for a very long time now being able to have a federally funded site admit and cite research done on the curative effects is rather surprising and amazing in itself. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) published that ‘Recent animal studies have shown that marijuana can kill certain cancer cells ad reduce the size of others.’ This is truly a major step on our way to using cannabis to cure cancer indefinitely.
We might not be able to get it approved soon for use but we are well on our way in the right direction.
